National Outplacement Survey 2015

More and more employees who are in danger of losing their jobs are finding work in another sector thanks to specialist guidance. While in 2014 half of people found a new employer outside their own industry, this percentage increased to 75 percent last year. More than 70 percent also shift to another position, compared to 62 percent a year earlier. This is evident from the National Outplacement Survey 2015. Outplacement is the process for receiving, guiding and advising employees to another suitable job. The research covered 11,300 outplacement processes. More than 7,500 people (67 percent) found another job. WerkmansMobiliteit uses the available expertise of the team to guide employees to new, suitable jobs through an outplacement process. Even if these are not always immediately obvious at first. Experience shows that employees themselves have difficulty focusing on other industries and to a lesser extent on other functions, even though there are opportunities there, the figures show. “Many employees have difficulty seeing the opportunities in other industries, where professional career counselors can. This underlines the need to invest in from-work-to-work and in professional career guidance or outplacement,” says Petra van de Goorbergh, director of OVAL. “If V&D stops, employees with a lot of work experience can very well prove their usefulness in education. We now see examples of this. Outplacement is a dire necessity for people in shrinking sectors and offers a great chance of results.” For many outsiders, the high success rate of older outplacement candidates may be striking. In any case, it becomes clear that implementing an outplacement program leads to success in the vast majority of cases. The National Outplacement Research was conducted on behalf of OVAL, the trade organization for service providers in the field of work, career and vitality. The infographic can be downloaded here.
